You cannot take out insurance through the portal. If you want to insure your animal for transport, select this option in your request, and we’ll email you a quote.
Why having your own insurance can be worthwhile.
The transporter is liable through their own insurance. However, this liability is limited for live animals. For international trips, the carriage of live animals is considered a special risk under the CMR Convention, making it easier for the transporter to be released from liability.
Especially with a sport or breeding horse or another valuable animal, it can be worthwhile to get a quote for your own transport insurance.
Here's how to get an offer.
In the request quiz on the homepage, select "Yes, send quote" under insurance. If you like, you can enter the approximate value of your animal.
We'll email you with a quote. To prepare it, we need the route, animal type, and value, which are already included in your request.
Insurance is not part of the booking and is not paid through the portal. You can also book your transport without it.
If something does happen.
Report the damage for the transport directly in your account. The form asks for the information an insurer needs: time, location, type of damage, affected animal, circumstances, veterinarian, and costs. Then attach photos, reports, and invoices. Save the completed report as a PDF and submit it to your insurer. We receive it as well and will help if anything is missing.
